In the days before digital cameras I would occasionally shoot a photo of the work in progress. These eleven are all that I found. I tried to keep track of time while working on this painting. I figured about 130 hours of work, easily my fastest portrait. The fact that they were spread out over four or five years is typical. I hope to complete at least one a year now that I’m “retired.”
